The pain is only buried in the brain 
Yet it is common to be pretending to be happy, 
It is dark inside and it is also dark outside 
In the thoughts, surely there is a procession of all the lamp,

दर्द के अफसाने ही दफन हैं ज्यादातर दिमागों में

फिर भी खुश होने का दिखावा करना आम बात है,

अन्दर भी अंधेरा है और बाहर भी है घना अंधेरा ही

ख्यालों में तो जरूर सभी के ही चिरागों की बारात है,

घने कोहरे की चादर जैसी जिन्दगी की है खींच तान

थिरकते फुदकते पुतले जितनी ही तो सबकी बिसात है,

लरजते हैं आंखों में आंसू खुशी के भी और गम के भी

आंखों में उमडते घुमडते बादलों की यही तो औकात है,

जितनी लम्बी चादर है उतने ही पैर फैलाता है यहां कौन

मुरादों में छिपी ख्वाहिशों के झरोखों से होती हुई बरसात है,

कभी ख्वाहिशों की और कभी तमन्नाओं की है उधेडबुन

चाहत में गूंथी चाहत के अधूरे अरमानों की यह करामात है,

कठपुतले से बनकर नाचना ताउम्र ख्वाहिशों के आंगन में

गैरवाजिब बस एक यही तो फितरत तेरी ऐ आदमजात है,

दर्द के कब्रिस्तान में दफन हुए हजारों गैरमुनासिब मंसूबे

दफन हो चुके मंसूबों की भी क्या कोई कयामत की रात है,

दर्दीले अफसानों की पहेली में उलझी है तमाम कायनात

बस एक अदद इंसानी जिंदगी गुजार लेने की ही तो बात है।
